Our method

Written by an infrastructure engineer who actually ran the software, for owners who can smell marketing copy. Blunt, specific, numbers over adjectives.

Editorial policy

  1. Scores are set before any affiliate link is added. A tool with no affiliate program that scores higher ranks higher. The score is the score.
  2. No paid rankings, no sponsored placements, no vendor brand deals. Ever.
  3. Axes are never averaged into one number. Trade-offs stay visible.
  4. Evidence tiers are labeled on every score.
  5. First-party tested wherever a trial exists. Where it does not (e.g. sales-led products with no self-serve trial), we label clearly as customer-reported or editorial estimate.
  6. FTC affiliate disclosure on every page containing affiliate links (16 C.F.R. Part 255).

The four axes (1–10, never averaged)

  • Coverage — % of the incumbent's actually-used feature set this tool replaces at the buyer's crew size.
  • Migration Pain (reverse-scored: 10 = painless) — data import quality, onboarding time measured in trial, contract lock-in.
  • Pricing Honesty — published pricing? predictable total cost? payment-processing fee structure? price-increase history?
  • Field Usability — tech-facing mobile app quality, measured in trial.

Evidence tiers

  • Trial-Tested — first-party trial run with documented protocol (gold standard).
  • Customer-Reported — aggregated from operator communities.
  • Editorial Estimate — published materials only; flagged clearly.
  • Every score carries a verified date. Stale > 12 months = re-verify or downgrade tier.

No null scores, ever

A page with incomplete or placeholder score data is excluded from search and its scores are hidden. We never render "null/10".
