Verdict — by crew size

Never one global recommendation

Pick your shop. The verdict is segmented by crew size — never one global recommendation. This is the answer first; the axis scores and the evidence that back it follow below.

All four verdicts · always on file
Solo · 1
Solo · 1: RealGreen will not give solo operators a demo — company policy requires a minimum business size. If you're a solo fert/weed-control operator, you're not their customer. Try GorillaDesk ($49-149/mo, published pricing, no minimum) or Yardbook (free tier) instead.
Crew · 2–5
Crew · 2–5: Designed for chemical-application specialists, not general lawn maintenance. At 2-5 trucks running fert/weed-control programs, RealGreen's routing, condition codes, and automated direct-mail upsells can replace manual scheduling — but you'll pay per text, per email, and per module on top of an opaque base subscription under a 1-year contract with forced autorenewal. Run the math carefully vs. Service Autopilot's flat-fee model before committing. If your business does anything outside chemical applications, it's the wrong tool.
Crew · 5–20
Crew · 5–20: The industry-standard for fert/spray companies at 5-20 trucks — multiple operators with 9+ years confirm there's nothing else that matches its routing intelligence, chemical tracking, and marketing-automation depth. The pricing model is add-on-heavy and opaque, the autopay architecture makes switching feel impossible (CC data not exportable), and the 1-year autorenewal contract traps you. Post-WorkWave acquisition has degraded support quality for many long-term users. If you're a fert-specialty company at this scale, RealGreen is likely your best operational fit — just know you're accepting significant pricing lock-in.
Crew · 20+
Crew · 20+: Proven at enterprise scale ($50k+/yr confirmed), and still the only FSM with the routing and chemical-compliance depth that large fert/spray operations need. Post-WorkWave acquisition, companies paying $50k+/yr have reported feeling like "it means nothing to them." The switching cost is high (1-year contract, autopay lock-in, CC data retrieval challenges), so negotiate hard upfront and get cancellation terms in writing before signing.

This verdict was set before any link.

Scores are set before any affiliate link is added. A tool with no affiliate program that scores higher still ranks higher. The score is the score — the verdict above did not move for a payout.
